The Eco-House Initiative is an Engineers Without Borders Branch Project housed in Cambridge University Engineering Department.
The Initiative aims to design and build low cost sustainable housing suitable for the Developing World. Working for Latin American NGO 'Un Techo Para Mi Pais' (UTPMP, A Roof Over My Country) which builds over 32,000 transitional houses every year with the help of 200,000 volunteers in 19/20 Latin American countries, the potential impact of this work is huge – both in terms of mitigating climate change and alleviating poverty.
We currently have over 70 people working in various Design Areas, and are set to deliver a preliminary design by the end of this term.
